What is the difference between Developer, Enterprise and Professional Editions?

They’re Packaged for Different Uses

All three editions include the same Joval SCAP engine. So, they all support local and remote scanning against all supported platforms.

You can view a detailed comparison here.

Here are a few questions to help you select the most appropriate edition:

  1. Desktop Application or Enterprise Application?
Professional Edition is a desktop application with a GUI that gets installed on your workstation.┬áIt’s great for testing content you’re working on or performing ad hoc scans of 1-10 devices, but it does not support high-volume or automated scanning. Developer & Enterprise Editions, on the other hand, are intended to be deployed on servers and/or many workstations and controlled via scripts or automation tools. They support high-volume scanning, basic reporting and integration with other enterprise solutions.
  2. Who will be using Joval: you, your organization or your customers?
Professional Edition is licensed per user per year, so it’s not a good match if it’s going to be used by many, many people. Enterprise Edition is licensed for use throughout your entire organization, but you are not allowed to resell it to others. If you want to embed Joval in an application you sell to others, then you will need Developer Edition, which allows redistribution.
